ABOUT ROBERT ”BOB“ SHER


Robert S. SherIn business circles, Robert “Bob” Sher has earned a reputation as a valued strategist and trusted counselor. And, with more than 40 years work experience in the finance, accounting, real estate, mediation, risk management, development, property management and investment fields, he comes to the executive coaching world well prepared.

Bob brings a distinctive combination of leadership, communication skills and business know-how to his clients. Those who have worked with him credit his engaging personality, listening, problem-solving and observation skills for his success in a growing field. In coaching, Bob blends his personal and professional experiences with tried- and-true coaching techniques to help his clients find satisfaction in all aspects of their lives.

Bob turned to coaching at age 60 after retiring from a chief financial officer position he held for nearly 30 years. He was the only non-family senior executive partner with Schostak Brothers & Co., Inc., a family-owned realty and management company. Schostak, which is Michigan's largest full-service commercial and industrial realtor, also operates a restaurant division responsible for running 63 Burger King restaurants in Michigan. While there, Bob was responsible for financial management and the administration of the company. Today, he serves as a partner and vice chair of the company's board of directors. Previously, Bob was a partner in a CPA firm.

In addition to his boutique coaching practice, Bob is a real estate broker, an arbitrator with the American Arbitration Association, a guest lecturer at business schools, and is an active member of state and national CPA associations. He served on the board of directors of the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants, and he has been working closely with the national association on its National Future Forum to create a “Vision” for the CPA profession. Recently, he received a Distinguished Service Award from the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants.

What's more, Bob is a community activist, serving on the board for Providence Hospital in Southfield, Michigan and the West Bloomfield Planning Commission. He has served on the boards of numerous charitable organizations.

Bob is a graduate of the Detroit Institute of Technology School of Business Administration. Bob and his wife, Janet, have five grown sons and a bunch of grandchildren and divide their time between West Bloomfield, Michigan and New York City.
